Driving Lessons

We are a Local Driving School and specialise in Learner Driver Training to Driving Test standard and beyond.  Whether you are a complete beginner or have had some driving lessons before, Drivecraft Driving School will help you make the most of your time and money.  We will structure your training according to your needs.  By taking the time to listen to you and what you want from driving, we can help you achieve success.  Everybody learns in their own way and we will seek to get the best out of you by adapting to your specific needs.

Building confidence is one of the main aspects often overlooked when learning to drive, yet it is just as important as learning how to control the car.  Our Experienced Driving Instructors will build your confidence so that you are able to make decisions and feel comfortable and safe on the road.

Training is in a modern 2010 Mazda 2 with manual transmission as shown.  It is a very comfortable car with Dual Controls, air conditioning, ABS and  multiple airbags for your safety.  The drivers seat adjusts to suit drivers of all heights.

During your Driving Lessons we will keep records of your progress so you always know how you are progressing.  These are reviewed at every session so you always know what needs to be covered next and you will be fully involved in setting your own goals.

Some of the skills you will cover during your training will include:

• Setting up the car ready to drive (Cockpit Drill)
• Full understanding of how to use all the controls
• Moving away and Stopping including Hill Starts
• Effective use of the Mirrors and Observation in general
• Hazard Awareness, Anticipation and Planning Ahead
• Dealing confidently with Junctions and Crossroads
• Dealing confidently with Roundabouts
• How to Park, Reverse, Turn and Manoeuvre the Car
• Meeting Oncoming Traffic and dealing with Hazards
• Emergency Stop
• Learning about Basic Maintenance of your Car

Theory Test

We will also help you to prepare for your Driving Theory Test if you need to do so.  This will be done as an integral part of learning to drive but we can also help with advice on Theory DVD’s and books as well as mobile phone apps which can be used to revise for this part of the test.  We will book your theory and driving tests on your behalf at no extra cost when you are ready to take them.

Driving License

You will need to make sure you have applied for and received your Provisional Driving License before you start driving.  You can apply for your license online or by obtaining a form D1 from Post Offices.
